Health & Safety

At Envirologic, the health and safety of our team, partners, and clients are paramount. Our clients depend on us to maintain a safety culture that involves continual training while ensuring our staff has the safety-related equipment necessary to protect against work-related hazards. The safety program we’ve developed doesn’t start at the job site; it begins with onboarding new personnel. We have maintained a strong and participative health and safety program for each of our team members throughout our history.

Some of our clients have outsourced their contractor verification programs to be consistent across all sectors of contractor hiring. ISNetworld is one such firm that specializes in matching contractors with hiring companies by collecting and verifying information about contractor safety and risk management. Envirologic is proud to be a highly rated vendor within ISNetworld, making us eligible to provide our services to their member hiring companies.

Envirologic’s Health and Safety Program includes:

  • All employees, managers, and subcontractors who conduct field activities have completed the initial Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training course (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120) along with annual refresher training.
  • Project Managers directly responsible for site activities have received additional HAZWOPER Supervisor-Level Training.
  • All employees are trained in hazard identification, job hazard analysis techniques, and Health and Safety Plan development for each job. All employees have the authority to “Stop Work” in the event a suspect or actual hazard needs to be addressed.
  • Employees are trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Professionals involved in the assessment of asbestos, lead-based paint, and radon have received U.S. EPA and OSHA training and/or accreditation.
  • Field personnel participate in an annual medical surveillance program.
  • Envirologic maintains a system for continuous improvement and incident prevention through the use of daily safety tailgate meetings, near-miss reporting, safety discussions during companywide meetings and communications, participatory events such as OSHA’s Safe+Sound week, and other means.
  • Annually, Envirologic holds an employee Health and Wellness Month to educate and inspire the team to make healthy choices and changes.

Envirologic’s safety manager, Dave Stegink, has been the instructor for the HAZWOPER module at Western Michigan University’s nationally renowned Hydrogeology Field Course since 1996.
