Our View on Sustainability

April 22, 2022

Envirologic’s vision is to be a sustainability model through our efforts at our headquarters and the work we do on project sites across the country. We view sustainability as common-sense practices that lessen our environmental impact and promote a better quality of life, while supporting business success. Company owners Jeff Hawkins and David Warwick have always regarded the first line of our company’s Vision Statement, “Do Good Work To Do Good,” as our guiding principle. It is possible to do “well” by doing “good” for our clients, our staff, the communities we work in, and the environment.

At our headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan, some of our efforts are small, like installing occupancy sensors in all our enclosed office spaces. Other efforts, such as our Energy Star rated roof and sustainable office renovation, have involved a more substantial investment. We recently upgraded our overhead lighting to LED due to its energy efficiency, cost savings, reduction in landfill waste (including mercury), and reduced carbon footprint. No matter how large or small the efforts may seem, we believe every little bit makes a difference. Some of our other sustainability initiatives include using energy-efficient appliances; providing reusable dinnerware, silverware, and glassware for our employees; sponsoring Bike-to-Work events; recycling our plastics, glass, paper, etc.; composting food scraps; and using a post-consumer content letterhead made in Michigan with hydroelectric power. We also enjoy fresh pesticide-free herbs and vegetables from our staff garden and focus on staff health and wellness throughout the year.

This Earth Day, as in years past, we continue to educate ourselves and address what we can do as a team to reduce our negative impact on the environment. To learn more and find educational resources for your home or business, check out
